Charlottesville Public Works Department is offering a new tool to let residents track city snowplows during winter weather events. The new online portal uses automated vehicle location technology to track snow route progress and show people when they can expect to see plowing happening. DMV is offering permanent farm-use placards for unregistered farm vehicles at all of its customer service centers. DMV-issued placards will be required starting July 1. Salvation Army of Charlottesville is establishing a hygiene closet, with the goal of opening on March 1. Shenandoah National Park: A permanent ticketing system to access Old Rag Mountain from March 1 through Nov. 30 is in effect after a two-year pilot program. Entrance fees still apply, and a ticket does not guarantee a parking space. A total of 800 tickets will be available each day. Tickets are not transferable and are valid only for the day of arrival.
