Barboursville man faces firearm charges after 'disorder' inside vehicle

A Barboursville man is facing multiple firearm charges after Albemarle County police say they responded to “disorder” within a vehicle on Gordonsville Road.

Police have arrested 45-year-old Anthony Wayne Martin and charged him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, intentionally discharging a firearm in a motor vehicle with the intent to injure or kill, and reckless handling of a firearm.

County police said they responded to reports of a “disorder” within a vehicle at an unspecified address on Gordonsville Road around 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

“It was determined that a shot was fired from inside the vehicle during the disorder,” police said in a statement issued Friday, adding that there were no injuries reported as a result of the gunshot.

As a result of an investigation, though, Martin was taken into custody.

He remains in custody at Central Virginia Regional Jail without bond on the aforementioned charges as well as other charges pressed by Louisa County authorities.
