Charlottesville police investigating Belmont shooting

Charlottesville police are investigating gunshots fired in the city’s Belmont neighborhood Sunday evening.

There were no injuries to report at the scene of the crime, but there was some property damage.

Officers said they responded to reports of shots fired at the intersection of Carlton Avenue and Nassau Street around 6:52 p.m. Sunday.

"Upon arrival, multiple shell casings were found," the police department said in statement.

The shooting remains under investigation.
