Charlottesville police are investigating reported gunshots fired in the city’s 10th & Page neighborhood early Friday morning.
No one was hurt in the shooting alleged to have occurred around 5:45 a.m. on the 800 block of Hardy Drive, but police say two residences were struck by gunfire.
The investigation is still in the early stages and no suspects have been identified, according to authorities.
Multiple residents told The Daily Progress they were sleeping at the time the shots were said to have been fired and did not hear anything. When The Daily Progress visited 10th & Page Friday afternoon, it was not immediately clear which residences were struck by gunfire and residents could not say either.
There was a limited police presence as of 1:30 p.m. Friday, including one police vehicle slowly driving down Hardy Drive as a few residents sat on their front porches and children rode their bikes in the street.
Two officers stood by a basketball court above the street and appeared to be searching the ground but would not say if they were searching for bullet casings or any other evidence.
Police have asked anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact the Charlottesville Police Department at (434) 977-3280 or the anonymous Crime Stoppers tip line at (434) 977-4000.
