Charlottesville police searching for man suspected of stealing firearm from vehicle

The Charlottesville Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in its search for a man suspected of stealing a firearm from a vehicle in a downtown parking garage.

Around 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 10, a man was captured on surveillance cameras breaking into a vehicle in a garage near the ACAC gym in downtown Charlottesville.

“The male stole a firearm from the target vehicle and other identifying documents belonging to the victim,” the police said in a statement issued Friday.

The unidentified man has been described as White, somewhere between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10, roughly 160 to 180 pounds, with gray-black hair.

Police have circulated still images taken from the surveillance footage in hopes of identifying and bringing the suspect to justice.
