Charlottesville police searching for vehicle after reported carjacking

Charlottesville police are asking for the public’s assistance tracking down a vehicle after a reported carjacking Monday morning in the city’s Meadows neighborhood.

Police are searching for a gray 2007 Saturn sedan with California tags.

A photo distributed by the police department shows a license plate reading, "8ZKT617."

Officers said they responded to a reported car theft from the Exxon station at 1907 Emmet St. across from the Shops at Stonefield at 10:46 a.m. Monday.

"The car was stolen and last seen at the intersection of Hydraulic and Cedar Hill," police said in a statement.

The suspect accused of taking the vehicle has been described only as a Black man with a white beard.
