CULPEPER — A Louisa man died in a two-vehicle, head-on crash Sunday on U.S. 522 in Orange County.
Virginia State Police Trooper M. Burgett is investigating the wreck that occurred at 6:15 p.m. Sunday about a mile north of Route 20.
A 1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara was traveling north on 522 went it crossed a center line and collided head-on with a southbound 2020 Nissan Rogue.
The driver of the Suzuki, Timothy L. Crites, 43, died at the scene of the crash as a result of his injuries. Crites was not wearing a seatbelt, according to a news release from the state police.
The driver of the Nissan, a 38-year-old man from Orange, suffered serious injuries and was transported to the VCU Medical Center for treatment. The man was wearing a seatbelt.
Passengers in the Nissan, a 31-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl, suffered serious injuries and were transported to the VCU Medical Center for treatment. Both passengers were wearing seatbelts.
Alcohol is being considered as a factor in the cause of the crash.
