Police searching for man who raided cars during triathlon at Lake Anna

Multiple participants in Saturday’s Pleasants Landing Triathlon at Lake Anna came back to their vehicles to find their personal items missing.

Louisa County authorities are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the man suspected of stealing wallets and other items from the cars parked at the Pleasants Landing Marina during the race held Saturday morning.

“An unknown male entered several vehicles and stole multiple wallets,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement issued Sunday.

Authorities said that the credits cards reported stolen from the vehicles have already been used. More than $2,500 was spent at a single Fredericksburg-area store, the sheriff’s office said.

Images of the suspect have been circulated online as the sheriff’s office attempts to track down the man and the missing items.

“Surveillance cameras captured images of the possible suspect walking while carrying what appears to be some of the stolen items,” authorities said.

Anyone with any information on the reported incident or the man who appears in those images is encouraged to contact the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office at (540) 967-1234 or the anonymous Crime Stoppers tip line at (800) 346-1466. Information that leads to an arrest is eligible for a reward.
