The city of Charlottesville is reporting a sinkhole in the area of Hydraulic Road and Hillsdale Drive, according to a city traffic alert issued Tuesday afternoon.
The right travel lane on westbound Hydraulic Road was closed to traffic from Brandywine Drive to Hillsdale Drive due to a sinkhole.
Public Service crews set up lane closures around the hole to investigate the cause and how to fix it.
At 3:30 p.m., the city reported that they had temporarily repaired the hole through backfilling and a steel plate, and planned to make a more permanent fix at a later date.
