Stand-up comedy at PVCC offers April Fool's Day laughs

Not sure what to do for April Fool’s Day this year? If laughter is what you’re after, Piedmont Virginia Community College suggests an evening of stand-up comedy.

Both Robert Mac and Colby Knight will take the stage in the college’s V. Earl Dickinson Building at 7:30 p.m. Monday. No fooling.

Fans know Mac as the grand-prize winner of Comedy Central’s national stand-up competition. He also has performed on “Last Comic Standing.” In addition to performing for audiences at Montreal’s Just for Laughs comedy festival, he has taken the stage at the San Francisco Comedy Competition, the Laughing Skull Festival and the Boston Comedy Festival.

Mac also is known for his work in the Washington, D.C., comedy circuit.

Knight is a familiar face in local and regional comedy circles. He can be found at the Richmond Funny Bone Comedy Club and Sandman Comedy Club. He jokes about a variety of topics, including Hallmark movies and how the Wiggles could help eliminate sexism.

Members of the public get in for $5, but PVCC students with valid IDs will be admitted for free.

The Dickinson Building offers free parking, and it is accessible to fans who use wheelchairs. The PVCC box office is in the building’s lobby, and tickets may be purchased there starting two hours before the show.

Tickets are available online at and by phone at (434) 961-5376.
