State police investigate deadly crash in Greene County

The Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal car crash that happened early Saturday morning in Greene County. The crash occurred on Route 33, about one mile west of Goose Pond Rd.

Around 1 a.m. on Sept. 23, a 2017 Nissan Versa crossed the centerline coming into a curve, hitting a 2022 Toyota Tundra head-on, according to a statement released by Virginia State Police. The Nissan was traveling northbound, and the Toyota south.

Alec H. Burnett, 30, died on scene. Burnett, of Richmond, drove the Nissan, and was found wearing her seatbelt. Kevin J. Suarez Escoto, 28, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was driving the Toyota and also was wearing a seatbelt. Escoto sustained minor injuries, which were treated on scene.

The crash is an ongoing investigation.
