Part of Fray Road near the Albemarle-Greene county line is closed after high water from heavy rainfall caused part of the roadway to collapse.
The 1800 block of Fray Road has been closed until further notice after near-daily thunderstorms flooded the area, the Albemarle County Police Department announced Saturday.
Nearly 3 inches of rain have fallen on Central Virginia in just the past 72 hours, according to the National Weather Service.
Photos shared by the Albemarle County Police Department show part of the roadway completely collapsed.
“Expect extended closure,” the police department said in a statment.
