A Locust Grove man is in custody after Orange County authorities say he committed assault, fled the scene and later returned only to assault his victim again.
Russell Grant Lee Jr., 44, has been charged with two felony counts of domestic violence. Lee has a history of domestic violence; court records show he was charged as recently as last year.
Orange County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched Wednesday to a reported “in-person assault” in Locust Grove.
Lee fled the scene before deputies could arrive, according to the sheriff’s office. After an unsuccessful search using K-9 units, Lee returned to the scene of the crime and assaulted his victim again before deputies took him into custody, the sheriff’s office said.
Lee remains in custody at Central Virginia Regional Jail in Orange.
