Louisa authorities searching for stolen purebred foxhound

Louisa County authorities are asking for the public’s assistance tracking down the whereabouts of a stolen purebred foxhound.

The hound, named Goofy and valued at $1,000, was reported stolen last Friday, according to the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office.

"An individual stopped in front of a residence, got out of their vehicle, and took the homeowner’s dog," the sheriff’s office said in a statement issued Monday.

No one was able to provide investigators with a physical description of the suspect, but it was suggested the thief was a woman, the sheriff’s office said. The suspect vehicle was described as a midsize sport utility vehicle in either dark blue or black.

Goofy has typical foxhound coloring, black, brown and white, but carries a distinctive scar on the top of his front left paw and white chevron on his upper left front leg.

Anyone with information regarding Goofy’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office at (540) 967-1234. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call the Crime Solvers tip line at (800) 346-1466. People also can download the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office app and submit an anonymous tip there.
