The Mountain Inn at Wintergreen Resort in Nelson County was evacuated for hours Friday after a propane leak on the property.
The Wintergreen Property Owners Association alerted members to the leak around 10:40 a.m. Friday.
"There is an active propane leak near the loading dock of the Mountain Inn," the homeowner association said in a message. "Gas levels in the area are dangerously high. All persons are requested to evacuate the Mountain Inn complex and avoid the area until a gas company team can secure the leak."
Wintergreen Fire & Rescue on the scene reported that a leak had been found in a 1,000-gallon propane tank on the property.
Personnel from AmeriGas Propane were dispatched to the hotel and were able to bring propane levels back down to normal around 12:30 p.m., allowing guests and employees to return inside.
