Residents displaced after lightning sets house ablaze in Albemarle

A lightning-induced house fire this weekend in Albemarle County just northeast of Charlottesville has displaced two people.

There were no injuries to report at the scene.

Career and volunteer crews with Albemarle County Fire Rescue were dispatched around 4 p.m. Saturday to a reported fire in the 3600 block of Stony Point Road.

One of the property’s two residents was home at the time of the fire, but managed to escape safely.

"The Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the fire was accidental and the cause was a lightning strike," the fire department said in a statement.
