A Waynesboro man faces 50 felony child pornography charges after he was arrested twice in one month.
The investigation into Christopher John Demaree, 36, began on Sept. 6 of last year, when the Waynesboro Police Department received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. A second tip was received three weeks later.
Demaree was arrested May 8 and charged with seven felonies related to child pornography, but after a contested hearing was granted bond by the Waynesboro Circuit Court on Friday.
"Waynesboro Detectives continued their investigation into Demaree," the police department said in a statement. "They discovered additional child pornography related material, which included a victim who was identified."
The same day he was released, Demaree was found and arrested again.
Demarree’s total number of charges upon his second arrest include one count of possessing child pornography, 25 counts of distributing child pornography and 24 counts of possessing child pornography after a previous offense.
Demaree remains in custody at Middle River Regional Jail in Verona, where he is being held without bond.
