2 injured in Buckingham crash

Two people were seriously injured this past weekend in a car crash in Buckingham County near Howardsville.

The names of the injured, one of whom had to be transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital, have not been released to the public.

Virginia State Police responded to a reported crash around 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Howardsville and Logan roads just southeast of Howardsville.

Upon arrival, troopers said they found two wrecked vehicles, one overturned and another crashed into a nearby tree line.

One of the drivers was removed from their vehicle quickly, but the other was trapped inside and needed more assistance.

While both sustained serious injuries, none of them were life-threatening, according to the state police.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
