Boil-water advisory lifted in Louisa County

The tap water in Louisa County is now safe to drink.

The county lifted a boil-water advisory Friday, two days after it alerted residents and businesses to a water main break that risked exposure to E. coli and other harmful bacteria.

The advisory affected customers in the Louisa County Water Authority Northeast Creek Service Area on Davis Highway and Jefferson Highway and in the towns of Louisa and Mineral.

“The Virginia Department of Health and Blue Ridge Health District in conjunction with the Louisa County Water Authority Waterworks are advising residents in the area served by the Louisa County Water Authority Northeast Creek Service Area in Louisa County VA., that it is no longer necessary to boil water before using it,” the county said in a statement issued Friday. “Bacteriological samples collected on May 14, 2025 and May 15, 2025 were absent of total coliform bacteria and E. coli indicating the loss of pressure did not result in the introduction of these bacteria into the water system.”

For more information, residents and businesses can contact the water authority’s general manager, Pam Baughman, at (540) 967-1122.
