Charlottesville man killed in single-vehicle crash in North Garden

Albemarle County police have identified the man who died late Monday morning in a single-vehicle crash in North Garden.

The deceased has been identified as Cole Peale-Grody, a 31-year-old resident of Charlottesville. A passenger who was also in the car and was hospitalized with injuries has not been publicly identified.

Albemarle police and firefighters were dispatched around 11:38 a.m. Monday to a reported crash on U.S. 29 near the intersection with Rural Ridge Lane.

"Upon arrival, first responders located a single-vehicle crash with one person ejected. First responders attempted life-saving efforts, but the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene," the police department said in a statement. "One passenger was transported to UVA Medical Center in non-life threatening condition."

The crash remains under investigation by the Albemarle County Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team.
