Nearly 1,400 without power in Charlottesville after circuit outage

Nearly 1,400 households and businesses across a swath of Charlottesville lost power Friday evening after a circuit outage near the intersection of Preston Avenue and Ridge Street.

Dominion Energy estimated power would be restored between 8 and 11 p.m.

Dominion crews were at the intersection of Preston and Ridge Friday evening working on restoring power. Charlottesville police were detouring traffic around the work.

As of 7 p.m., there were 1,394 Dominion customers affected. The outage cut a diagonal line through the city, from Starr Hill through 10th & Page, North Downtown and Locust Grove.
