One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash involving a tree Wednesday afternoon in southern Albemarle County.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld from the public until next of kin can be notified, according to the Albemarle County Police Department.
Around 2:05 p.m. Wednesday, the police department and Albemarle County Fire Rescue responded to a reported single-vehicle crash involving a tree in the 6700 block of Jefferson Mill Road. The address is about 4 miles north of the town of Scottsville.
"Upon arrival, responders attempted multiple life-saving efforts, but the driver of the vehicle was later pronounced deceased at the scene," the police department said in a statement issued later in the day.
The crash remains under investigation.
