Waynesboro police have opened an investigation into what they believe was a road rage shooting that injured a teenager Sunday afternoon.
The 16-year-old gunshot victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville for care.
Police were dispatched to a reported shooting around 3:29 p.m. Sunday at the Moonshine Market at 1001 E. main St. They found the injured teenager at the scene.
Early evidence suggests the shooting began as a road rage-fueled altercation in the 700 block of North Commerce Avenue, about a mile north.
Police have not publicly identified any suspects.
An investigation is ongoing.
