More than 4,000 households and businesses in Greene, Madison and Orange counties lost power Thursday after a Rappahannock Electric Cooperative transmission feed went down.
Most REC customers reported losing power around 2 p.m. Thursday. Power was restored for all by 8 p.m.
There were 4,067 customers at the peak of the outage around 4 p.m., according to REC’s outage map, spread from Dyke in the west to Locust Dale in the east and from Brightwood in the north to Somerset in the south.
