One person is dead and another is injured after what police have described as a “gang-related” shooting at an Albemarle County apartment complex just north of Charlottesville Saturday night.
Albemarle County police have identified the deceased as Zerrio Eubanks-Warfield, a 23-year-old Charlottesville resident. The injured party has not been identified to the public, but police say their injures are non-life-threatening and they were transported to the hospital.
Officers were dispatched to reports of multiple gunshots and suspected injuries in the area of the Rio Hill Apartments in the 1600 block of Rio Hill Drive around 8 p.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival, officers reported finding Eubanks-Warfield dead and another person injured. The latter was transported to University of Virginia Medical Center for treatment.
“The incident involved multiple gunshots, with several vehicles and apartments struck,” police said in a statement issued Sunday. “Investigators believe the shooting is gang-related.”
The police have asked neighbors in the area to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police department at (434) 269-5807 or 911.
