One person is dead after a passenger vehicle collided with a dump truck on Interstate 64 on the ascent to Afton Mountain early Thursday morning.
Their identity is being withheld until their next of kin can be notified, according to the Virginia State Police.
Police said the collision occurred around 3:30 a.m. Thursday in the westbound lanes of I-64 near mile marker 102.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing. Witnesses are encouraged to contact state police.
