2 hospitalized after school bus crash in Greene County

Two people were hospitalized overnight after a Greene County school bus ran off a road south of Ruckersville on Wednesday.

The bus was carrying three people, including one student and two county employees, around noon Wednesday when the bus ran off Spring Hill Road and crashed into an embankment.

All of those on the bus were transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment, according to the county.

Bus driver Dorothy Shifflett and bus monitor Roger Snead were hospitalized overnight, the county said. There was no report on the status of the student who was on board.

While the three may have been released from the hospital, their recovery is only just beginning.

“My dad has five fractured ribs, but he will be fine. A long healing process is ahead,” Sharon Leake, Snead’s daughter, told The Daily Progress.

The crash is under investigation.
