4 families displaced after fire tears through Stanardsville townhouses

Four families are displaced after a fire ripped through a row of townhouses in the Stanardsville area in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

No injuries were reported at the scene. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Firefighters from six nearby fire companies arrived on the scene on Judges Road off U.S. 33 Business in Greene County around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Although the crews were able to extinguish the flames, there was extensive damage to four of the townhouses, according to the Stanardsville Volunteer Fire Department.

Local ministry organization, Neighbors In Need, is helping two of the families displaced.

“We are providing hotel nights as we are able. We are also providing new clothing, food, personal care supplies and emergency relief supplies,” Director of Neighbors In Need Joanna Faillace told The Daily Progress.
