Roughly three months after taking on the job, the executive director of the agency responsible for handling 911 calls for Charlottesville, Albemarle County and the University of Virginia has left the post.
The Charlottesville-UVa-Albemarle Emergency Communications Center Management Board — composed of city, county and university officials, including police and fire chiefs — voted to part ways with Heather Hilliard during a special meeting on Oct. 15.
But why remains unclear.
Albemarle County spokeswoman Abbey Stumpf confirmed to The Daily Progress Hilliard is not under any criminal investigation but did not elaborate further.
Lily Gregg, deputy director of the Emergency Communications Center, told The Daily Progress she had been named interim executive director “while the process for recruiting and appointing a permanent Executive Director takes place.”
Hilliard was named executive director of the Emergency Communications Center on July 7.
