Charlottesville police ID suspect in Fifeville shooting

Charlottesville police say Corinthian “Zayquan” Brown is responsible for a shooting Tuesday night in the city’s Fifeville neighborhood that injured one.

They are asking for the public’s assistance tracking down his whereabouts. Brown should be considered armed, they said.

Charlottesville officers responded to a reported shooting on Prospect Avenue in Fifeville around 7:09 p.m. Tuesday.

“Upon arrival, they located a gunshot victim at the scene suffering non-life-threatening injuries,” the police department said in a statement issued roughly an hour after officers responded to the scene.

While initial reports said the shooting occurred on Prospect Avenue, police later said the shooting likely occurred half a mile north.

“Further investigation revealed that the shooting actually occurred at the intersection of Cherry Ave and Ridge St, which was confirmed by evidence found at that scene,” police said in a statement Wednesday.

Police identified Brown as a suspect Wednesday and obtained warrants for his arrest. He is charged with malicious wounding, shooting from a vehicle, maliciously shooting at a vehicle and using a firearm during a malicious wounding.

Anyone with information regarding Brown’s whereabouts or the Tuesday night shooting is encouraged to contact the Charlottesville Police Department at (434) 970-3280 or the anonymous Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (434) 977-4000.
