House in town of Orange damaged in fire

A house fire in the town of Orange late Monday night caused serious damage to the residence. The occupants, however, were able to escape uninjured.

The Orange Volunteer Fire Company said it was alerted to a fire on Peliso Avenue around 10:49 p.m. Monday.

“The crew off the Engine held the fire in check and completed full knock down within minutes of making entry to the home,” the fire company said in a statement issued Thursday. “All searches of the home were negative and occupants were accounted for outside.”

The structure sustained significant damage from smoke and water, the fire company said.

The cause of the flames remains under investigation. Questions regarding the fire can be directed to Orange County Fire & EMS at (540) 672-7044.

Personnel with the Barboursville Volunteer Fire Company, Gordonsville Volunteer Fire Company, Rapidan Volunteer Fire Department and Mine Run Volunteer Fire Company assisted in the response.
