Human remains were discovered on a northeastern Buckingham County property this past weekend.
The deceased has yet to be identified, but an investigation is ongoing, according to the Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office.
It was around 6:30 p.m. Saturday when the Buckingham County Emergency Operations Center received a call from 1374 CG Woodson Road, about halfway between New Canton and Gilliamsville.
“The call stated that they had discovered human remains on the property,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement issued Monday. “Deputies responded and, with the assistance of the Virginia State Police, collected the remains. The remains were transported to the office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond.”
