The Ivy Material Utilization Center is getting a new name.
Henceforth, the facility on the west side of Charlottesville which hosts a variety of trash collection and recycling services, will be called the Ivy Solid Waste and Recycling Center.
The Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority, which oversees the center, held a meeting Tuesday where the name change was decided.
Officials say the new name better captures the facility’s purpose and clarifies what was always meant by “material utilization.”
The name change will go into effect immediately.
The Ivy Solid Waste and Recycling Center is located at 4576 Dick Woods Road at the site of the former Ivy Landfill, which was closed in 2001.
