Man hospitalized after daytime stabbing on West Main Street in Charlottesville

A man has been hospitalized after he was stabbed in broad daylight Tuesday on Charlottesville’s West Main Street.

Charlottesville police said they were dispatched to the 700 block of West Main Street around 9:13 a.m. Tuesday. The block is home to several popular restaurants and sits directly across the street from Charlottesville Union Station.

“Upon arrival, officers discovered a male who had sustained life-threatening stab wounds,” the police department said in a statement.

The victim was transported up the street to University of Virginia Medical Center, where authorities said he was being treated for his wounds. His condition was listed as stable as of Tuesday afternoon.

Police have not named a suspect, but an investigation into the stabbing is ongoing, they said.
