One man is in custody and another is in the hospital after a shooting in the Smith Store area of Buckingham County earlier this month.
The identities of the two men have not been released to the public, but the wounded party’s injuries were described as life-threatening.
It was around 6:20 p.m. Oct. 12 that the Buckingham County Emergency Communication Center received a call of a reported shooting in the 4000 block of Glenmore Road.
“Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded and found a male subject who had suffered a gunshot wound laying down in front of the location,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement issued Wednesday.
The man, age 36, was transported to the hospital.
Sheriff’s deputies also arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with the shooting.
The incident remains under investigation, and the sheriff’s office encourages anyone with information regarding the matter to telephone at (434) 969-1772.
