Remnants of Hurricane Helene are still causing problems for Central Virginia.
Greene County, which remains under a flood watch, has reported new road and bridge closures after flash floods throughout the area.
Drivers are advised to refrain from travel on Mutton Hollow Road, Octonia Road at South River Road, Durrett Ridge Road, Jonquil Road, Gardenia Road and Spotswood Trail westbound near Stephens Loop. Drivers also are advised to avoid the bridge on Dyke Road at the Albemarle County line unless fleeing from flooding.
The National Weather Service reported between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain had fallen Sunday and an additional 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible overnight into Monday Ruckersville, Quinque and Burtonville.
There is concern that flooding will occur along streams, creeks and rivers as current levels are higher than normal based on rainfall over the past week.
Emergency officials said people in low-lying areas or flood-prone areas who are not comfortable staying home can call the Greene County Emergency Operations Center at (434) 985-5232.
Officials are urging extra caution at night when it is harder to recognize high water.
