Update: Ting resolves 'major outage' in Charlottesville

Charlottesville internet provider Ting says it has restored service in the city after a “major outage” reported Tuesday morning.

The Charlottesville-based company pinned the problem on “failed hardware” in one of its data centers.

The mass outage was first reported around 11 a.m. Tuesday, affecting households and businesses throughout Charlottesville. Ting technicians were dispatched to the data center where the failed hardware was identified to remedy the matter within 10 minutes.

“All work has been completed and we have received confirmation that all impacted customers are restored at this time,” Ting said in a statement issued at 12:34 p.m.

Households and businesses that are still having difficulties connecting are encouraged to contact Ting at 1-844-846-4994.
